About Stretch-n-Grow of Northeast Nashville
Margertha McLean is originally from Columbus, Ohio. She can’t remember a time when all things sports and science didn’t fascinate her. She was able to combine both interests at Tennessee State University where she accepted a track and field scholarship and majored in biology. Her specialties in track and field included the 400m, 4x400m relay, and the 400m hurdles. Margertha won 5 conference medals, made 2 appearances at the track and field NCAA tournament for the 400m hurdles, and completed her Bachelor’s in Cell Biology and Chemistry. She also holds a Master’s in Biochemical Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research on calcium intake and obesity was published in Journal of Extension and is entitled “Promoting Dairy Intake in Rural Wisconsin by Empowering Youth”.
After her education, Margertha spent 7 years in corporate America working as a food scientist and continuous improvement manager for Conagra Brands and Nestle before deciding to make her entrepreneurial dreams a reality. Margertha, living in Omaha, NE at the time, purchased a large childcare center in July 2017. This is where she was first introduced to Stretch n Grow! She welcomed several Stretch-n-Grow classes into her center and was delighted by how much the children enjoyed it and its positive impact on the center staff and the parents. After relocating to the Nashville area, Margertha knew something was missing – Stretch n Grow!!
Margertha resides in Hendersonville with her husband Dwight and 3 children. Philippians 4:13
